Process

I build systems for interpretation.

I don't tell participants what to think. I create the conditions in which thinking becomes visible.

The work often begins with a question and a set of materials: photographs, documents, objects, language, evidence, instructions.

I establish the conditions, but I don't determine the outcome.

Participants are asked to look, choose, compare, rank, discard, interpret, and explain. What interests me is not whether they arrive at the “right” answer, but how an answer takes shape.

What did they notice?
What did they trust?
What did they ignore?
What did they bring with them?
And what changed when they encountered someone else's interpretation?

The artwork is not only the material I create.
It is what happens when someone encounters it.
